NETWORK Mourns the Passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings
Sr. Simone: “Congressman Cummings was a persistent and vibrant voice for the most marginalized in our society.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, our nation lost a great statesman and champion for justice in the passing of Congressman Elijah Cummings. The Catholic Sisters and advocates of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice mourn his loss and keep his family and loved ones in our prayers. NETWORK issued the following statement:
Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice said:
“Congressman Cummings was a persistent and vibrant voice for the most marginalized in our society. He pursued justice and most recently led the House oversight committee in hearings to hold the Administration accountable. But I believe that he will be best remembered for his deep connection to the people in his district. His joy was in the community that supported him and whom he championed. He will be missed by all of us who work for justice.”
