NETWORK Applauds House Passage of American Dream and Promise Act
Sr. Simone: “While the struggle for comprehensive immigration reform goes on, we need to protect immigrants from President Trump’s attacks now.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6, the American Dream and Promise Act, which provides a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients. The Catholic Sisters and activists of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice supported and advocated for this crucial immigration legislation. NETWORK issued the following statement:

Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, Executive Director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice said:

“Today is an historic step for Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients. While the struggle for comprehensive immigration reform goes on, we need to protect immigrants from President Trump’s attacks now. That’s why the Catholic Sisters and activists of NETWORK were so proud to support the passage of the American Dream and Promise Act in the House. The Senate must quickly follow suit to provide a pathway to citizenship and protection from deportation for our immigrant sisters and brothers. These are valued community members with inherent dignity who must be protected.”

Laura Peralta-Schulte, Senior Government Relations Advocate for NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice said:

“This is an important victory for Dreamers and their allies. Catholic Sisters and immigrant activists of NETWORK worked tirelessly to accomplish this important milestone. We will continue to use our power to demand that the Senate passes legislation creating a pathway to citizenship for all DACA, TPS, and DED recipients. Our immigrant sisters and brothers deserve protection.”
