Washington, D.C.:
After a rousing kick-off ceremony in front of the state capitol in Des Moines, Iowa, NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus are today sponsoring two Iowa town hall meetings, one in Council Bluffs and one in Sioux City.

Vice President Joe Biden joined the Catholic sisters yesterday for the kick-off ceremony. He delivered a powerful speech supporting the issues we work on, including healthcare access, a faithful budget, immigration reform, “a decent living wage,” and civic engagement. He was also full of praise for NETWORK’s Nuns on the Bus and Catholic sisters in general: “I know no group of people who bring more passion to what they do.”

While with the sisters, he also signed their bus, indicating that he, too, will be a 100% Voter this year.

The theme of the 2014 tour is “We the People, We the Voters,” and the goal is to greatly expand voter engagement in the coming election.
