Sr. Simone Campbell Speaks Out On MSNBC Against Ryan Budget

NETWORK has taken a strong stand in opposition to the so-called “Ryan Budget,” a Republican budget proposal that would hurt people in need while benefitting the wealthiest.

We were particularly appalled when Rep. Ryan began to claim that this budget reflects Catholic teachings. When he came to Georgetown University to defend this assertion, a large group of Georgetown faculty (including a NETWORK Board Member) wrote to him decrying his “continuing misuse of Catholic teaching to defend a budget plan that decimates food programs for struggling families, radically weakens protections for the elderly and sick, and gives more tax breaks to the wealthiest few.”

That same evening (April 26), Sister Simone Campbell, NETWORK’s Executive Director, appeared on Hardball with Chris Matthews (MSNBC) to discuss the Ryan budget and Catholic teaching.

Here is a clip from that interview.
